NOTICE OF PRIVACY PRACTICES
6 Degrees Privacy Consulting, LLC

Our Privacy Principles:

At 6 Degrees Privacy Consulting, LLC (“6 Degrees”), we believe the privacy of clients’ personal data is important. Our business practices demonstrate our belief that less is more–collecting and using less of your personal data allows us to focus more on our mission, which is to provide world class data privacy consulting services. Put simply, if we don’t need personal data to deliver our services, we don’t ask for it, use it, store it or share it. Please see below for a few more details, and let us know if you have questions.

Definitions:

Personal data is generally information that can be used to uniquely identify a specific individual, either directly or indirectly. Some examples include name, phone number, mailing or email address. Sensitive personal data may include health information, specific geolocation data, personal financial data or date of birth. 6 Degrees does not collect or process sensitive personal data, unless it is included in project documentation provided by a client.

We will ask you to provide personal data (ie, name, phone number, mailing address, email) so that we can contact you, send you information, deliver work and bill you for our services.

Types of Personal Data We Collect and How We Collect It:

We collect only as much personal data as we need to provide our services and manage our business, and nothing more. We collect this information from you electronically, via phone and in-person. This may include some or all of the following:

  • Contact information, such as name, phone number(s), email addresses and mailing addresses
  • Personal data contained in electronic or physical documents, or verbally discussed during project planning and execution.
  • Public social media profile information, such as that available on sites such as LinkedIn.

Generally we accept checks and electronic payments as compensation for our services. We do not retain payment information for later use, and we do not share it with others, except for banking, accounting and tax administration.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under age 16. If we become aware that we have mistakenly collected such information, we will delete the information as soon as possible.

Use of Personal Data:

We use your personal data to complete the work we have agreed upon and to communicate with you. We may also use your personal data to contact you about additional services, to respond to your inquiries, to send invoices and collect payment, to seek your feedback on the quality of our work or to request a reference. If you prefer not to be contacted, you may opt out or withdraw your consent anytime by clicking here.

We may also track website activity and security using third party data provided by website development tools and data security providers. We use web analytics on our website, which track visitor website activity such as IP addresses.

Transfer of Personal Data:

We will only share your personal data with third parties who assist us in providing our services, such as third party vendors, if engaged by 6 Degrees on your project or to manage our business. Our third party service providers, such as Internet Service Providers (“ISP’s”), email service providers, cell service providers, website security and analytics providers and computer backup services may have access to any personal data we transmit or receive via their services. We do not share personal data with third parties for other reasons without your consent.

Your Individual Rights and Choices:

You may contact us to request that we correct, update or delete your personal data. You may also request that we provide you access to the personal data we hold about you, or that we transfer your data to another company. In addition, you may withdraw your consent for data processing, request a copy of all of your data, request the ability to move your data to a different organization, request deletion of non-relevant data, and object to automated decisions, including profiling.

Retention of Personal Data:

We do not retain your personal data longer than necessary to meet the purposes described in this Privacy Notice. We may retain the personal data we have collected to maintain your account as a client or future client (ie, your contact information and project data), unless you contact us to request that we delete some or all of this information. We will also retain data necessary for legal, accounting or tax purposes.

Protection of Personal Data:

We protect your personal data against loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction using physical, technical and administrative processes. These measures include:

  • Backing up computer files to a local or external computer drive, and/or using third party online backup and security services.
  • Hard copy personal data is stored in client files located in the 6 Degrees office, and locked as needed for security.

Changes to this Notice:

We may periodically update this Privacy Notice, and the updated Notice will be posted on our website at www.6degreesprivacy.com.
